Prostate Cancer Prevention: Diet
Dr. Elist's says: Lose Weight, Decrease the Risk of Prostate Cancer
According to researchers at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health obesity seems to be associated with higher risk of prostate cancer. Going on a diet could be a good strategy for prostate cancer prevention. Overweight men seem to be at higher risk for developing precancerous lesion and subsequent prostate cancer than men with a healthy weight.
Being Obese at the Time of Biopsy was Associated with a 57% Increased Incidence of Prostate Cancer at Follow-up
Obese men were more likely to have precancerous lesions detected in their benign prostate biopsies compared with non-obese men, and were at a greater risk for subsequently developing prostate cancer, according to researchers at the Mailman School of Public Health. The findings are published online in Cancer Epidemiology: Biomarkers & Prevention, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.
