Eradication Therapy
If you are suffering with ulcers and gastritis, there are ways to deal with it. Also known as Helicobacter Pylori Eradication Protocols, as well as Eradication Therapy, the goal of the treatment is to provide relief for symptoms, while also eliminating the infection caused by the Helicobacter Pylori.
History of Eradication Therapy
The first time the therapy was used was by Barry Marshall, who treated his own gastritis (Gastritis Wiki Page) with it. He used bismuth salt and metronidazole, and the treatment proved incredibly effective with an 80% eradication elimination rate. The modern eradication therapy protocol involves triple-therapy over the course of one week. This triple therapy, formulated in 1987, and continued today, involves amoxicillin, then clarithromycin, followed by a proton pump inhibitor. The proton pump inhibitor can be omeprazole, pantoprazole or esomeprazole.
Cause & Effect of Eradication Therapy
Eradication Therapy The eradication therapy can run for 14 days, as long as the side effects are not too toxic. Roughly 10 to 15% of all individuals who use the eradication therapy tend to have side effects, most of which are not severe and do not warrant discontinuing the therapy. The bacterium will detect acid gradients and move beneath the stomach lining, causing the condition. A drug used to treat acid reflux will bring H.pylori back to the surface.Overall, the treatment is very easy for the patient to follow, and can be applied to both a human and a canine. It is important though, that the patient maintains treatment compliance to prevent the condition from flaring up again.
Changes Made over the Years to Eradication Therapy
The treatment has changed greatly over the past few decades, with new eradication protocols being developed. The following changes have been made:
- Improved the treatment compliance among patients to prevent the condition from happening again.
- There is no need to follow a diet (Body Weight | Psyche) now, thanks to the proton pump inhibitor efficacy.
- The duration of the therapy has decreased from 14 days to 7 days.
- There are less tablets to ingest.
- The daily tablet ingestion has decreased from four times per day to two times per day.
- The side effects (Testosterone Effects in Your Body) are much less now due to lower toxicity with the treatment.
