Circumcision Benefits in Adults
Many parents are might be reluctant to have their baby boys being circumcised, so are many grown men, who refuse to lose the foreskin but there are many circumcision benefits in adults.Major debate exists about the loss of sensitivity, and less sexual satisfaction; a myth which has never been proven as right or wrong. However, the one certain fact about circumcision that has been scientifically proven to be a truth is its protective mechanism against many urinary tract infections and STDs.
Circumcision Prevents Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) in Adults
Urine may contain pus (a condition known as pyuria) as seen from a person with sepsis due to a urinary tract infection. The protection offered by circumcision against urinary tract infections (UTIs) in infancy has been well documented and emphasized in the most recent recommendations for circumcision by the American Academy of Pediatrics and it is also being recommended for other ages due to circumcision benefits in adults.A recent study conducted at the University of Sydney in Australia and published in The Journal of Urology showed that the protective effect of circumcision lasts throughout a lifetime. Uncircumcised infants had a nearly 10-fold increased relative risk of UTIs compared with circumcised infants. The lifetime risk of UTI was 32% in uncircumcised males and only 8.8% in circumcised males. Not only the prevention of UTIs but also the prevention of later complications such as kidney damage is an important factor to be considered. Considering the cost of hospitalization for UTIs and the potential for kidney damage associated with severe infections, these findings suggest that the benefits of circumcision in preventing infection are comparable the effects of other public health measures such as viral vaccines. While circumcision is a fundamental part of some religions, the medical world has now well studied facts to back up circumcision's health benefits as well and considering circumcision benefits in adults it is recommended for males of all ages.
